Here We Grow Again! August Construction Update
Construction at Bennett Day is on time and on schedule for the first day of school on August 26!
Items recently completed include:
- Flooring: polished concrete and tile in classrooms; carpet in hallways and offices; gym flooring in lower level rooms
- Ceiling tiles installed
- Lighting installed
- Paint nearing completion
- Low voltage wiring located throughout as needed for projectors, safety systems, etc.
- Renovated areas in existing building framed
- Drywall taped and sanded in all renovated areas
- Restrooms tiled throughout new building
Upcoming work:
- Furniture, interior signage, and millwork installation
- Paint and wallcovering to continue throughout
- Early childhood gross motor climbing structure to be installed on existing playground
We are putting finishing touches on construction with carpet, paint, and baseboard finishing on the interior of our new Phase II east wing. Furniture and fixtures will then be set up before school starts.
Floor 4, 3, and 2 are complete as the construction crew has worked from the top down and they will be finishing their work over the course of the next week on the First Floor and our Lower Level. The Fourth Floor will be home to our first upper school students this fall while new classrooms and labs are added for early childhood and intermediate grades on floors 1-3.
In the coming weeks, we will finish work on the exterior play court off our first floor where we are installing a basketball court with baskets at both ends and a turf area for flexible outdoor play that will serve various age groups throughout the day and after school. We are adding a new gross motor climbing structure on our existing playground that will suit our youngest students.
On our Lower Level, we are completing construction of our brand new lower level gym, second cafeteria, and music lab.

Construction of first floor play court deck/underlayment where we are adding a 60’x30’ basketball court and turf. Deck is nearly complete now and court/turf materials will be installed near the start of school.
Third floor classrooms and lab are complete in the new wing with floor to ceiling windows.
New classrooms are complete in the new Phase II wing, ready for furniture.
We are installing a new stone terrace on the Fourth Floor (facing northeast toward 90/94.)
Our new Fourth Floor spaces offer sweeping views of downtown. Furniture installation will be soon!
