Senior Spotlight: Veronica

Why did you choose/decide to go to Bennett Day School?

I chose to go to Bennett because I wanted a unique high school experience that would equip me with knowledge and life-long skills. As part of the founding class, I knew that attending Bennett would be a risk, given that when I visited, the Upper School spaces weren’t even built! Looking back on my four years here as a high school student, I know I made the right choice. Bennett is unlike any other high school.

What are your plans after you graduate?

Upon graduating, I will attend DePaul University and be a part of the 3+3 BA/JD Law Program! I’m thrilled to have been given this special opportunity, and I know Bennett has prepared me well for this accelerated program.

What advice would you give rising seniors?

Take it easy! Although your last year of high school is important as a student, remember to enjoy it. Participate in school activities, be social, and have fun. I know the college application process can be very stressful, so I encourage you all to start early and give yourself time.

What’s your favorite project-based learning (PBL) memory?

I don’t think I can choose just one favorite PBL project or memory! All of our PBL themes have been so impactful and have shaped me to be a better learner. However, the one that sticks out to me the most is our unit on Crime & Justice. This theme was certainly a catalyst for my passion for law and social justice.

What are you excited for after Bennett?

For me, graduating from Bennett will be a bittersweet moment. While I am so grateful for the opportunities given to me here these past four years, I am excited for my new chapter in college. I am looking forward to being in a new learning environment in which I get to meet new people, learn new things, and grow as not only a student, but as a person.
