Senior Spotlight: Soren
Why did you choose/decide to go to Bennett Day School?
I went to Bennett because of its flexible curriculum, which made it easier to balance school and my sport. As a competitive horseback rider, my schedule can be demanding with training and travel. The teachers and staff were very adaptive and understanding of my busy schedule as a competitive athlete, and they worked with me to make things manageable.

What are your plans after you graduate?
My plan is to attend the University of Kentucky, where I will major in Sports Leadership on the coaching route and I hope to minor in Film. I will also be competing full-time in my sport while working at my barn. In addition, I hope to travel abroad through the University of Kentucky!
What’s your favorite project-based learning (PBL) memory?
My favorite PBL experience was my first project in my freshman year. Coming into the school nervous about the curriculum and unsure if it was right for me, I was grouped with all upperclassmen, which intimidated me at first. However, it ended up being one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, pushing me to grow into who I am now. I had the opportunity to go on numerous field trips to explore our topic, which was water, and we created a hypothetical food drive that eventually turned into a real one. Through this project, I formed friendships that I still have today.
What advice would you give rising seniors?
My biggest advice to rising seniors is to take full advantage of the resources that Bennett offers you. Bennett provides countless opportunities to help you on whatever path you choose, whether through academics or real-life experiences. Secondly, appreciate your senior year it goes by so fast.
What are you excited for after Bennett?
After Bennett, I’m excited to continue my career in riding, with the goal of going professional and coaching in my future. I am also looking forward to pursuing my newer interests that Bennett helped spark, such as film and photography.
