Senior Spotlight: Kate
What are your plans after you graduate?
I plan to study human communication sciences at Northwestern University to become a speech pathologist.
How do you feel Bennett has prepared you for what comes next?
I feel really ready for college! Bennett has helped me grow in so many ways that whatever challenges I face in college, I’ll be able to get through them. I’m excited to show off my collaboration skills that I’ve gained through group projects/PBL.

Why did you choose/decide to go to Bennett Day School?
I chose to go to Bennett because it felt like home. The community here is like no other, and I just knew that I would grow so much in my time here, and I did! Bennett’s unique curriculum was also another reason I chose Bennett. I feel like I’ve done some of my best learning here.
What’s your favorite project-based learning (PBL) memory?
One of my favorite PBL projects I’ve done is the app I created for the Accessibility PBL in the third trimester of my freshman year. I got to explore topics that were personal to me, and the final product was something that people could actually find useful. It just felt really good, knowing I’m capable of making something that can help others.
Tell us about your internship experience(s) at Bennett.
During my time at Bennett, I was able to have a few different internships. My junior year, I split my time between working with the 7th-grade learning resources teacher at Francis W. Parker and the K-4th grade learning resources teacher at Bennett. My senior year, I interned at Embark Speech Pathology, while also continuing my previous internship with the K-4th learning resources teacher at Bennett.

What advice would you give rising seniors?
Senior year honestly goes by so fast, so savor every moment. Take time for yourself, but put yourself out there and do fun things.
