Harvest Festival – Fall 2016
Harvest Fest – Fall 2017
We had a truly amazing time at today’s first trimester Harvest Festival. This event is an opportunity for parents and guardians to learn about our programs through hands-on, tangible experiences. This morning, our families were able to see the “harvesting of knowledge” firsthand and understand the world of school as their children do. This is a fantastic way to help our families come to know and understand the content and context of progressive education. The idea of Harvest Festival is rooted in the Reggio approach to learning, which is built on the understanding that the child’s experience is influenced by three teachers: the environment, the teacher, and most significantly by the parents/guardians. Engagement of the parent body and their understanding and support of the child’s development in the classroom is what makes the Reggio-approach successful.
This morning, our children were able to show their mastery of classroom activities while parents engaged in learning activities side-by-side with their children. It is a time for children to become “teachers” as they share their favorite classroom experiences with their parents. Special thanks to all of the family members that were able to join us today.
