Bennett Day and Standardized Testing

At Bennett Day School, we strongly believe that test scores are an inadequate means of understanding the value a learner brings to any environment. But we recognize the role it plays in the education system and it is our duty to make sure our students master the very specific skill of test taking.
When compartmentalized as a specific skill and not an obsession, a school can and should appropriately prepare for this necessity in the best way it can.
At Bennett Day, we believe that testing is a small but significant part of one’s life outside of school, so it should be a small but significant part of school life. We use the flexibility of our schedule to create space where test preparation can happen without impacting our robust and rigorous project-based curriculum.
That’s why we have partnered with Academic Approach to offer every student a dedicated opportunity to prepare for the SAT through an extension test prep program that begins in 9th grade.
Every year, our students will get targeted SAT prep from the premier test prep organization in the city. Working with our students during school hours, Academic Approach will bring its proven SAT preparation methods to every Bennett Day Upper School learner, providing up to 60 hours of test prep leading up to the test.
