Originally from California, Mary began her teaching journey during her undergraduate years at The University of Alabama in a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool setting. She graduated with a double major in Early Childhood Education and Human Development/Family Study. She also received a minor in Addiction and Recovery. She then moved to Chicago for graduate school at DePaul University, and graduated with a Master’s in Curriculum Studies. She focused her studies on the importance of social-emotional learning. She has worked in a variety of teaching roles including: preschool teacher, assistant JK teacher, substitute teacher, charter school kindergarten teacher, and 1st grade teacher. Mary enjoys progressive education, student-centered projects, learning through play, and finding engaging explorations to guide the students in their learning. She is very excited to step into the role of a Senior Kindergarten Lead Teacher.
