Lisa Kennedy

Lisa Kennedy brings more than two decades of experience in elementary and intermediate education across a variety of school settings. Her career has included teaching and leadership roles in Chicago Public Schools, Oak Park District 97, the Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel, and the Frances Xavier Warde School (FXW) in Chicago. Her experience includes serving as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, English Language Arts Department Chair for grades K–3, and instructional leader. She has designed and facilitated professional development for educators in ELA, literacy, and instructional practice and has supported teacher mentoring, admissions, and school-wide initiatives. Lisa has also provided professional development for East Aurora School District 131 and the Greenly Center for Catholic Education at Loyola University Chicago. She is deeply committed to creating learning environments where students are known, challenged, and engaged in meaningful learning. Her approach to education centers on strong relationships, student engagement, inquiry, and thoughtful differentiation, with a focus on helping each child develop confidence as a learner. Lisa received a B.S. in Business Management from Hampton University, an M.S. in Elementary Education from Chicago State University, an M.S. in Reading from Loyola University Chicago, and an M.S. in Principal Leadership from Loyola University Chicago. Lisa was drawn to Bennett’s unique approach to education, where strong relationships, curiosity, collaboration, and real-world experiences come together to create meaningful experiences for students. As Lower School Director, she is committed to fostering a community where students feel known, supported, and excited to learn. Lisa is a mother to three children, and her youngest child is a Bennett Day School student. She resides with her children in Chicago and enjoys cooking, exploring Chicago restaurants, gardening, and traveling.
