Lauren Stern
Developmental Therapist Consultant
Early Childhood
Lauren entered the field of child development upon graduating from the University of Michigan in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish. Lauren worked as a Developmental Therapist in an Early Intervention (EI) program in Boston, providing developmental support to children birth-three and their families. Lauren spent five years in EI as both a clinician and a clinical supervisor. During this time, Lauren completed a Master’s degree in Child Development at Tufts University.
Upon returning to Chicago where she grew up, Lauren started working at a pediatric clinic as a developmental therapist and program director. In addition to supporting children and families, Lauren further developed her passion for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of clinicians and educators. In order to expand her skill set, Lauren became certified in relationship- and play-based models of intervention, and completed a two-year post graduate program in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. In 2014, Lauren started her own private practice where she provides in-home and school-based developmental support to children and families, with a particular focus in social-emotional growth and regulation. Lauren will be consulting at Bennett weekly, providing observational feedback to teachers, play based support with children in classrooms and ongoing professional development with staff. Lauren is very excited to be working with Bennett Day School children, families, and faculty.
