Katie Warner
(she/her)
Middle School Math Teacher & Learning Specialist
Middle School
Katie has been teaching since 2009 when her family moved to China and started a new chapter in life as expats. Previously, she was a restaurant owner and private piano teacher. She always wanted to inspire students to love whatever they were doing and decided to become an educator so she could pursue this full time. Katie and her family moved to Hong Kong where she taught at an international school and developed a deep appreciation of the role of family and culture in education.
Since moving to Chicago Katie has taught fourth grade and was a learning specialist for grades 3-5. She is passionate about creating inclusive, engaging, and student-centered learning environments. Katie is eager to contribute my skills and experience to support
academic growth and personal development in students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
Katie incorporates student voice an choice in learning. She loves playing games and believes they are another way to both learn and develop new skills while cultivating critical thinking. She wants her students to feel like the classroom is a place where they can take risks and reflect on their abilities.
