Jessie is a teacher, anthropologist, and historian who is endlessly curious about people and the world around us. Her teaching is eclectic. She loves connecting history, culture, geography, current events, and students’ own experiences to help us understand why people and societies work the way they do.
She is also deeply relationship-based in her teaching. She doesn’t think meaningful relationships can be rushed or manufactured; they’re built over time and through proximity. She wants to spend enough time with her students to really get to know them. She thinks that familiarity and trust are what make a classroom feel like a community, and ultimately make deeper learning possible.
