Emily Callan

Emily has taught in a variety of private schools in Seattle, WA; Zhengzhou, China; and Chicago, sharing her love for learning with students from many different backgrounds. She believes in a student-led, inquiry-based approach where students ask the questions and explore possible answers.

Eager to break out of the musical norms of the Western world, Emily seeks to broaden students’ musical knowledge by incorporating elements of music from around the world. She encourages students to step out of their comfort zone to develop new tastes, skills, and knowledge. In blending global music appreciation with hands-on exploration, Emily seeks to help students discover their own creative voices.
