Maggi Hastings

Maggi holds a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from National Louis University. She began her career in theater education here in Chicago, teaching theater, communication skills, and improv. Most recently, she taught first grade at another independent Chicago-area school. Maggi is so passionate about project-based learning, having incorporated it into her classrooms for years, and she’s thrilled that Bennett Day School shares that same philosophy. She loves incorporating art and exploration into her everyday teaching practice and is deeply dedicated to social-emotional learning, helping students build confidence and self-advocacy skills as they grow into lifelong learners. Maggi believes in creating a classroom where students feel safe, seen, and excited to learn every day. Originally from Michigan, she has called Chicago home for about nine years and is so excited to be part of the Bennett Day School community!

Outside of the classroom, Maggi loves spending time with friends, camping, hiking, and enjoying nature around her. She also has two cats and a bunny at home, and a strong love for all animals. Maggi enjoys music, movies, and exploring all that Chicago has to offer. She feels incredibly fortunate to work alongside such amazing faculty, families, and students, and can’t wait for another wonderful school year!
