Cory Graef
Middle School Science Teacher
Middle School
Cory completed his undergraduate at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities with majors in Biology and Chemistry. He had a particular interest in the crucial role Biology holds in environmental conservation and sustainability. During his time in college, he began tutoring at two inner-city Minneapolis high schools, which is where he found his love and passion for education. Upon completing his undergraduate degree, he enrolled in graduate school at the University of Minnesota and obtained his Masters Degree in Secondary Education Science Teaching Methods.
After finishing college, his love for the outdoors and active lifestyle took him out to Denver, Colorado where he lived for 9 years. He taught science at a middle and high school in Littleton, CO for those 9 years while also coaching cross country, basketball, and track. He also took his love of learning a step further and pursued a second Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, which he obtained from Regis University of 2018. Summers in Colorado were spent hiking the unlimited number of mountain trails and climbing to the top of as many mountain peaks as possible. In his spare time, he also enjoys competing in running road races (anything 5k up to the marathon), and enjoys playing a variety of recreational sports leagues with friends on the weeknights.
After 9 years in Colorado, he decided it was time to move back closer to his family. His wonderful parents just celebrated 42 years of marriage, and his three older siblings live in the Green Bay area and are starting families of their own. He absolutely loves being an Uncle, and being close to home for his family. He really enjoys traveling and spending time with his friends and family. He LOVES dogs (even though he doesn’t have one…yet) and taking time to the explore the city of Chicago. He comes to Bennett after one year at the Latin School of Chicago. He is looking forward to joining this community and to having an exciting and memorable year!
