Come experience a day of STEM-based fun inspired by author Andrea Beaty‘s Questioneers picture book collection: Iggy Peck, Architect; Rosie Revere, Engineer; and Ada Twist, Scientist! With the help of Bennett Day School Faculty, children will learn about building, engineering, and “wet” science through hands-on experimentation.
This activity is designed for children ages 2-9 years old. There will be three age-appropriate activity areas:
Iggy Peck, Architect (Ages 2-3): The group will participate in a read aloud of Iggy Peck, Architect as inspiration to become little architects themselves! Children will work with one of our teachers to build skills of collaboration, imagination, and engineering by using natural materials to tinker, engineer, and build structures.
Rosie Revere, Engineer (Ages 4-6): Beginning with a read aloud of Rosie Revere, Engineer, children will experiment with pulleys, levers, zip-lines, and more to explore the basics of physics and how they can manipulate environments through engineering.
Ada Twist, Scientist (Ages 7-9): After reading Ada Twist, Scientist, students will participate in “wet” science experiments by combining different organic materials and gauging reactions through their senses of sight and smell.
